FAIRagro's RDMO in Practice: Building Data Management Plans for Agricultural Research

FAIRagro and DMP4NFDI held the hands-on workshop RDMO in Practice: Building Data Management Plans for Agricultural Research on 17–18 June 2026. Participants gained practical experience creating Data Management Plans for agricultural and agroecosystem research projects. The workshop focused on the DMP-tool Research Data Management Organizer (RDMO) and the FAIRagro-developed, discipline-specific DMP template.

The workshop combined thematic introductions with several hands-on sessions structured along the sections of the template. Key components of a DMP — including data types, data documentation, metadata, data publication, and legal aspects — were first introduced conceptually and then applied directly in RDMO during practical exercises.

Participants were encouraged to bring their own research projects and had the opportunity to work on their own DMPs throughout the workshop. The interactive format provided ample room for discussion, questions, and exchange between participants and trainers.
